Playa de Son Bou: Son Bou is the island's longest (nearly 4 kms) and most crowded beach. Its size, together with the many facilities available in the area, make it an ideal beach for going with children. At one of the extremities are located the rests of a palaeo-Christian basilica.
Alaior: In 1304, King Jaume II of Mallorca founded what we know today as Alaior on the site of an old farmstead named Ihalor. Nowadays it can be considered as the third capital city of the island, constantly mediating between Mahon and Ciudadela and characterised by a balanced economy, which gives it a certain independence. The most flourishing sectors are agriculture, tourism and industry. It is particularly famous for its shoes and dry cheese production.
Mahon: In Mahon you can visit the Menorca's Museum, hosted in the old Franciscan convent, Santa Maria's Church, with its magnificent organ, whose quality attracts famous musicians from all over the world. Another suggestion is to stroll in the port's area, where you can find a lot of restaurants and bars and where people use to go out, especially in summer.
Ciudadela: The old island's capital, Ciudadela, is only a 30 minute drive away from the Hotel. It is still possible to admire parts of the ancient city walls, and the city offers many interesting palaces and monuments to visit, such as Santa Maria's Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace and the Seminary. All the old part of the city is closed to traffic and full of shops. In the harbour tourists can find many open air restaurants.
Basilica Paleocristiana: It is amazing how nowadays it is still possible to admire rests of such ancient monuments. Palaeo-Christian Basilicas were built during the Vandal reign of Chartage (northern african influence) and later on under the Byzantine domination (Eastern Roman Empire). The Son Bou's beautiful Basilica belongs to the first period, since it was built in the 5th century. Extremely interesting is its baptismal font, carved from a single stone.
Fornells: The fishing village of Fornells has become an important touristic centre, partly because of the lobster stew (caldereta) served in its restaurants. The old pools for salt exploitation can be seen in the enormous bay of Fornells. Another interesting place to visit is the watchtower built by the British after the demolition of the San Antonio fort.
Naveta does Tudons: Many prehistoric monuments can be found all around the island. The burial monument "Naveta doEs Tudons" is the most famous, it dates back to 1400 BC approximately and has the shape of an inverted hull, from which its name is derived (nave=boat).
