- Paradise with a uniquely British flavor. Columbus discovered the Cayman Islands in 1503, calling them "Las Tortugas" (the Turtles) because of the abundance of sea turtles he found there. Much like their early days, the Cayman Islands today are a place where life is lived at a relaxing pace, revolving almost entirely around idle days filled with sand, sun and sea. They are a haven for underwater exploration in dazzling coral reefs... strolling down an astonishingly beautiful white-sand beach...and sipping cooling tropical beverages under a grandly colonnaded cabana. Located on Grand Cayman in the British West Indies, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman Resort and Villas is a refuge of tranquillity...nestled on a glorious stretch of Seven Mile Beach.
